Hello all! I'm a teacher in Chicago. I haven't been enthusiastic about bicycles for long, though I've been getting more and more involved in the mechanical side of things over the past year or so. I ride a '74 Raleigh Sports that I reconditioned myself, and right now in my sunroom is a '70 Schwinn Breeze basically completely disassembled. I rebuilt the old 3-speed hub and then built a new high-quality wheelset around it. Once the frame is cleaned up and touched up, it's going back together hopefully in better than new condition.

While fixing up classic bikes is what got me started in this world, some longer rides along the shore of Lake Michigan have gotten me interested in something newer and sportier...so perhaps this summer I'll build up a new ride to complement the old.

Thanks for reading...I look forward to seeing many of you around here!

Thanks! Perhaps after I get all the mud/salt residue off of it from my latest ride, I'll snap some pictures.

A snowstorm in late March...winter in Chicago doesn't play around.

Welcome to the forums.

I have been known to wash my bikes in the bathtub. Do not tell my wife.

I've just come back from a ride and had to wipe down the bike because I really didn't expect rain today  .

Yes, I know I live in Puget Sound, but when I left home it was sunny and beautiful! By the time I got home it was rainy and still beautiful :D .

Jsharr, bathtubs work just fine. They are much roomier than showers, too.
