I'm not entering in the San Dimas Stage Race, but I thought it might be fun to ride out to the road race on Saturday in time to watch and cheer on any BF members entered in it. The plan is to hook onto the Montrose Ride from Trader Joe's at 8:20am and fade off the back before they turn on Citrus where we will then continue on Arrow Hwy to the race course. Maybe one lap around the course while carefully watching for race groups, then returning home in a modified version of the rest of the Montrose Ride. It should be about 50 miles and fun as well. What do you think?

i might be up for that depending on my schedule
If you just stay in the group until they go over the hill on Gladstone, you can turn right at the light when the group goes left and follow San Dimas Ave. all the way down to Bonelli park. That section of Arrow Hwy., after Citrus isn't bad, but Gladstone is much nicer with less traffic and it really isn't much farther because Arrow isn't directly straight.

Thanks, I'll consider that instead. I didn't really know the long route since I'm too chicken to try it.

yeah stay with the group whenever you can. it'll be a good way for you to try 'the kitchen' since that's where we will turn off

What will happen is you will make a left at Cerritos and then about a 1/2 mile later you make a right on Gladstone. When you get to San Dimas Ave. you will be a little farther north of Arrow because Arrow winds a little to the south, but you are still only about a mile and a half north of Bonelli. I live in the area and going either direction, I use Arrow only when necessary. Will makes a statement I hear from trackies often, "stay with the group whenever possible".

is that a bad thing or a good thing?:)
for urbanknight it'll be one more step of learning the long route. plus the obvious of traveling faster and easier than alone

Oh, it's good advice. About 10% of my friends are regular track riders. I think I've heard them all say that.

Cool, I'll do that then. It will be nice to experience the "kitchen".

Friday. I think at 8am. It's the reason I didn't enter, since I can't justify taking the day off work (yet I plan on asking for a week off to do the AIDS/Lifecycle ride in 2009 :D )

Cool, I'll do that then. It will be nice to experience the "kitchen".it won't be the same without the fistfight. a while back i saw two guys throwing punches at each other going up the hill in the middle of the pack. i'll see if i can get something started for you.

Sounds great, because we all know how big the prize money is on the Montrose Ride... and the Rose Bowl Ride as well.

Keep me posted. I'm interested if you can tolerate the company.

I'll have to consider it after putting up with you for 80 miles all over Angeles Forest :D Honestly though, I'm a little jealous that you are a generation ahead of me yet I was the one with enough hair loss to cause tiger stripe tans on my forehead from the helmet.
