Southeast - Pre-ride Crowder's Mtn Metric

Hey - I'm going to be doing this route (metric) (http://www.gastoncountycyclists.com/RideFlyers/Crowders_Metric/Crowders_Metric_2008.htm) this coming weekend, either Saturday or Sunday, depending on the weather. If anyone wants to join me, shoot me a PM/email or respond to this thread.

I plan to ride the Assault on the Carolinas this Sat as long as the weather is ok. I might be able to ride the Crowders ride on Sun. if things work out. Work out as in I feel like driving down there and my family has no other plans for me.

If you are just looking for a great ride in the area this weekend, check out the Tour De Lure. It's out of Marion. It's a metric ride that goes over the mountain and down into Lake Lure, then back up into Marion on the Mount Mitchell route. I think it's like 5900 ft climbing.

i couldn't ever get anyone to answer my emails about the TdL ride...not going to do that one. i'm sticking with the CMM ride for this weekend.

prolly ride it on Sunday if there's the possibility of riding with someone instead of solo. i'm still open for either day tho.

ummm, it's a 3hr drive for me...tenatively around 9:30-10am?

Wolfpack I would love to do this ride, I even looked at it about a month ago and when I saw the date
well its furniture market time!! So for the next 4 weeks and 2 weekends I won't be doing much if any riding. I've been busting ass these last couple of weeks, maybe I'll get a trainer ride in and keep some fitness. Hope you have a great time!!!!

Just got back from driving the route. This is gonna be fun! Quite hilly, I must say! :)

oh boy...real hilly huh? meh. doesn't matter - i have to get these hillier rides under my belt before the Burnsville Metric and definitely before Assault on Marion.

No I wish I could make it but work won't allow. Have a great time and I hope the weather is good for you.

slowhand - sorry to do this, but i'm going to have to bail on the pre-ride Sunday. i've been really tired this week and i am in some serious need of some rest/down time. as much as i want to come out and do the pre-ride, i need to be smart and listen to my body. right now, it's telling me to get some rest this week.

if you or anyone else wants to do this ride next saturday, i could probably do it then. if not, well, i'll just ride it on the 13th.

since i'm not getting to do this pre-ride tomorrow, i'm thinking i may try again next weekend. will watch the forecast and make a definite decision towards the end of the week next week.

If the gf can get off work for the weekend of the ride we are going to camp for the weekend I will get to do the metric on Sunday.

well, looking at the weather forecast for saturday...looks like it could be a rainy day. sunday looks way better. so, if i can get the 'ok', i'm prolly going to try to go do this ride sunday. or, it might be a rainy ride on saturday, just depends:rolleyes:.

will know more by thursday probably.

Weather looks good for this Sunday, checking to see if any local BF folks will be riding.
