Planing a decent trip this spring that will put me on some packed gravel... What is the beefest / widest tire in can fit between my chain stays.
Can anyone speak from personal experience.

I have 28's on mine.
You'd probably be able to get away with slick 35's. If you're going with a tread, I'd say 32's.
Here's a couple of shots...
note: on the rear shot, the tire is pulling to the left a bit, so it looks tighter - add half a cm to that.
EDIT: I'm running Continental Ultra Sport btw.

I have 25s on mine, and there is still plenty of room. I haven't tried anythying wider.
i couldn't fit a rear 28 armadillo on mine. it rubbed. but those have an insane amount of tread/puncture proofness on them. yeah, normal 28s should be fine.

Here's a shot from the chainstay (the closest spot is in between the apex of the shadow and where the shadow drops off the edges of the tire). My axle is in the middle of the drop out. I'm running a bit of chain slack, so the tire can move back a bit for more clearance I needed it.
I take fitting a slick 35 back. You might get a slick 32 in there.
