Hey there,
I just registered, just dusted off my '94 Cannondale after many, many years of not riding at all:(
I used to be a fairly serious weekend warrior, racing in the Clydesdale class at around 240lbs, 220 in my peak performance time. I always have been a big guy, about 6ft tall, loved beer and pasta after my rides. I had some injuries and family issues that caused my to hang up my bike but I continued my love affair with the beer and pasta. SO now I'm over 300 and I'm sick and tired of feeling like crap all the time. I've done every diet known to mankind, to no avail. I need to just get off my ass and ride again but I'm afraid that I may be too heavy to be riding. My Cannondale is an old Delta V model, the only thing left on it that is original is the frame. I have old school 90's XTR with V brakes, Synchros post, Rhyno down hill rims, can't remember the rest but my mechanic at the time built the bike to be solid for my 250lb girth. I have cleaned it up, lubricated everything and put new tubes and tires on. Anything else I should think about before using it again after so many years? Should I not ride until I have dropped a bit of weight? How heavy is too heavy to ride again? I was thinking about getting a bigger seat for my much bigger butt. I just want to get in shape and get back to something that I loved:)
