went out with dad for a short ride today. took the path behind my house and was very surprised to find its part of the east coast greenway! has signs with directional arrows and was newly paved. this was a footpath growing up and only 2 or so years ago did they pave it over. i always wondered why they paved it but now i know!
im glad my town took part in this project. anyone else have the greenway running through their town?

A freshly paved greenway? Does anyone else note the irony?
Sweet! Anyone have a map of where it runs? I've only seen allusions to it.

Portions of it run near Baltimore.

Paved, huh? Supposedly a good part of the Delaware Raritan (D&R) canal path is part of this. It takes me about 2 minutes to ride there.
Edit: Ah ha, "New Jersey boasts one of the first ever trail segments designated as ECG: the Delaware and Raritan Canal Towpath (http://www.greenway.org/maps/DelRar.jpg), stretching 28 miles."
From my memory (which may be going south :) ) the ECG uses the Raritan canal part of the D&R not the part that parallels the delaware river from frenchtown area north through Bulls island. As I think the ECG is coming from NYC area (not sure if they use a train to go from NYC to Penn Station-Newark).
The entire D&R canal is somewhat in the 60 mile range but the section that the ECG on is less, as you state, 28 miles. Of course, parts of the D&R canal have been washed out due the serious flooding we've had the last few years, I haven't ridden that path in awhile so hopefully the towpath is in better shape now. I don't know the current status though.
