So I rode with Foothill Cycle Club on Saturday, and we strolled (or shall I say sprinted down the bike trail) down to Whittier. Afterwards, 4 of us, decided to make a slight detour, stopping off at the 1st McDonald's (not sure if it is the 1st in SoCal, or first in the country or what). Passed by it many times but never really stopped by there. I'm guessing everyone in the forum knows this, but I didn't know the historic significance of this. They even have a museum there.

We then decided to go to see the apartments that the Carpinters (as in Karen and Richard Carpinter) bought after their first hit record. We then went to see the house, which they want to tear down, just because the neighbors are tired of having everybody lookie-loo around.

It was a great ride, but what a day for it ... in the 90's, being stuck out there at high noon. Oooh wee!

nice pics Ron.
As for the McDonalds, that was the 3rd one. It started in San Bernardino. It is the oldest one still open and the only one with the old decor. I did have a burger there several years ago and felt quite nostalgic. I am glad they kept the golden arches and red/white tile.

Thanks for the correction. It was refreshing to go to a McDonald's hamburger stand.
