Does anyone have experience flying with a bicycle from Milan's Linate Airport? I'm looking for information regarding bike boxes. I know that some airlines, such as Air France, sell boxes in the airports but I'm not sure about Linate. Or, are there any bicycle shops nearby where a box could be obtained?

Thanks:)

I wouldn't bet on Linate having too much. Are you staying in Milan? If so, I can ask my LBS if they have any spare boxes.

Linate and Malpensa have websites (both run by SEA IIRC) that may have more information.

We're actually staying in Segrate, to be nearer the airport. We may have a day before our departure to try to find boxes so perhaps a shop in Milan is workable. Are there any bike shops near Segrate?

I've checked the Linate website and haven't had much luck finding out info.

I think I may also call Air France to see if they sell boxes there. Flying out of Bordeaux they were able to supply them for us, for a fee of course.

Thanks.

I don't know what's in Segrate as I've never been there.

According to the Bici Milano website there's Segrate BELLI at via Rivoltana 65, ph. 02/7560255 which is only about 1km from Linate. It might be worthwhile phoning them to see whether they are still there though as the Bici Milano list may not be up to date.

How long are you in Milan for?

Thanks for the info Johnny. I did a quick search for Segrate BELLI but didn't find anything on the first go-round. It would be nice if they were still there, and only 1K away.:)

We'll only be staying in Milan for two nights. It will be the end of our four week tour that we're starting in Nice France.

The other possibility is to ask the hotel you're staying at if there's a bike shop nearby.

Let me know how you get on.
