Foo - This sucks

I once had a high school teacher who said "I don't think a lot of people should go to college until they are about 23 or 24". I knew what he meant but i thought i was immune.

I'm hoping to end with a 3.0 but it's going to take a lot of work. I'm on pace to get a 3.8-4.0 this semester. While i feel great about my recent success it's frustrating as hell that i lacked the work ethic for the first 2 1/2 years of school.

What gives :(

Join the club....a lot of us discovered total freedom for the first year or two...then reality set in.

Fortunately i'm not done with my education. Unfortunately i need to convince schools to let me in N:)

Oh but then make it go on for years by working during the day and taking classes at night ... oh and toss in a few major changes so you end up with a trunk load of courses that apply to nothing .... <snarf>

Wait...did we know eachother about 20 yrs ago?:p

If heading to Grad school it is essential, but otherwise, depending on your field, the GPA is pretty useless.

Then once you get a few years of experience, depending on your region, what school it was doesn't even matter any more.

Of course, I am in the inverse situation. After going back to school, I had like a 3.85 GPA, and it is now on a steady decline, and I am on academic probation. :(

Of course, in a new field, I would never make what I am making now after 30 years in government IT, even if I get a Masters... So, I am really in it for fun. :)

EDIT: It was kind of fun to tell the board that if an old fat guy who got his AA with honors, and going for his BS can survive bad grades that I think the University could survive it.

heh, laugh if you like. I paid for my own.

But I paid for my kids' too. If they were starting now, I could not.

My first year and a half or so kinda sucked. I was in a major I didn't like and just wasn't trying at all. Then I switched majors to biology and things started to get better (except organic chem, damn you!). I kind of have a career goal in mind now, and having a goal to work towards really helped to motivate me this year. I talked to my academic advisor this morning to set up a schedule for the next two years, and everything is looking pretty good.
