I thought you meant balancing a beer can on a coaster...which I can do...
coaster brakes aren't really adventageous for tricks...just skid the ***** outta it!

I'll be honest, I sometimes fantasize about putting coaster bikes on a conversion I've been thinking about doing.

Unless it's on a mamachari ,isn't a coasterbrake just a way to make the bike look brakeless without having to man up and acually run brakeless?Come on...be honest.

No, a coaster brake is a hell of a lot of fun.

I agree with this guy again.
I heard that you can't barspin with a coaster brake though. If you try, the bike will just fall apart.

coaster brakes are wicked fun. and being able to coast is advantageous in a lot of circumstances.

my next bike is gonna be a coaster braker i think. simple, clean, and fun.
Coaster brakes have almost no real options or advantages for "tricks" but they are a great way to re-introduce people who haven't biked in a while (for example: college people who haven't rode a bike since before high school) to the world of cycling and single-speed riding. Alot of people that don't ride often find them less intimidating than fixed gear or multi-geared handbrake bicycles.

i can see that. i guess they have no real advantage over a ss other than cleaner lines due to lack of brake cables.
track bikes are pretty lame for urban riding though

I disagree...like I said there is no back pedalling with coasters...any reverse direction motion tricks are easier in the sense that the pedals don't rotate and whack your shins...hence the freecoaster concepts and hubs for flatlanders. I've seriously considered a CB road conversion with fenders and racks...

if your pedals whack your shins when riding backwards you're doing it wrong.

heck yah, my CB is a schwiinn too. also i was joking about the fixed being lame for urban riding. i was riding one, until about 2 weeks ago when rode my friends coaster. then i knew i had to have one.
should coaster bike be called coasties?

yes! only spelled kowsteez.
well, you can basically ride everywhere without having your hands on the bars. So who's got some nice juggling tricks?
Can't do any cool tricks other than shifting into low and spinning up the big arse hills (the ones I can't get up on my 42x17 fixed wheel conversion or track bike).
3-speed coaster road conversions are fun to play around on.
