Foo - I'm kinda stoked

A while back I'd mentioned in the "I would like to have a beer with..... (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=311423)" thread that I'd like to have a beer with my favorite Astrophysicist Dr. Neil deGrasse Tyson (http://research.amnh.org/users/tyson/).

Well, I may not get to have a beer with the man, but I do have a third row ticket to see him speak tomorrow night.

Do you like him because of some specific work that he has done, or because of his ability to communicate his work (or about stars in general) in a way that gets you stoked about astrophysics?

I've never seen any of Tyson's books. I have The First Three Minutes, but never got around to reading it. I liked reading Stephen Jay Gould, that's more my interest.

Do you think after seeing him you might undergo a doppler shift and start posting in red?:D

BTW, I saw him on Nova I think, and enjoyed what I saw.

Both, but admittedly more so the latter. Astrophysics can be a dry subject depending on who you're talking with.

Sounds like a blast, this guy is literally on just about every program made about quantum physics and such these days, and he seems very gifted as far as using layman's terms, (as much as possible given the subject matter,) being unpretentious and seeming approachable. Tell us how it goes.

I think it's the come hither look in his eye, the missing tie and partially unbuttoned shirt. You can damnear hear the Barry White playing in the background...oh yeah.

I have no idea. Then again, I have friends who solve algebra problems the way some people do crossword puzzles on Sundays.

The only downside to going to the event is doing it without the bike. I'm taking the bus and hoofing it.
