That is so sad ... I'm so sorry to hear about this. We've had our share of bike accidents already this year.

Please keep us posted if you hear any updates.
I have to inform you that Steve Hartt, longtime SBW member and friend to many of us, has passed away on Tuesday.
I do not have any information yet on a memorial service or ride for Steve. As soon as I get something I will pass it on.

Very sad to hear Steve didn't make it. :( Ya'll stay safe as you can out there on the west coast. We've had a couple car - bike accidents around here lately too even. :(
This really gets me down :(

Isn't this the second SBW member to succumb to car vs. bike accidents this year? :(

Wow, makes me want to stay on bike paths even more.
In general, streets are safer than bike paths.

Anybody going to attend the Sat. ride? Unfortunately I'm going be at work but I want to extend my condolences and support.
Just want to see if anyone is or isn't aware of the ride.
Hi,
I spoke with one of Steve's teammates at the Torrance Criterium. It sounds like it was just as the original subject line stated -- a tragic accident. I don't want to mis-state anything but it sounded like the basic ingredients were a narrow road and poor visibility due to high weeds.
Be careful out there and my continued condolences to Steve's family and clubmates.

When I hear stories like this it scares me, especially because my fourteen year old is getting really into cycling.

I did the memorial ride last Saturday and while I personally never met Steve, it was overly apparent that he had an impact on many. Seeing his two sons ascend the switch backs together with a following group of about 300 was about as emotional as it gets. Let's stay safe out there everyone.
