After considerable thinking, I’ve decided to permanently end posting in the So Cal Region. I’m someone who has consistently received both positive and negative attention on a regular basis, and due to the disruption from the negative attention, my not presence not being felt on here is the only solution that brings me peace of mind. I’ll be logging onto Bikeforums.net to read the wonderful information that can be found on this website. There are many wonderful members who provide a myriad of insightful knowledge, advice and humor from all over the world who log on here regularly. I will continue to read (but not post in) the many forums on Bikeforums.net. I will also still be checking PMs and if anyone wishes to contact me, I’ll respond via PM only. To all the riders and friends I’ve met in the past two years, you know where to find me, and I look forward to future rides and experiences with each and every one of you.

Boohoo ... I'm not in town this weekend. I guess maybe I need to lead a Bagel ride when I'm in town :)

How fast is "piano"? I haven't ridden with a group yet but 20 miles *sounds* manageable....
Thanks!

Hi Grace, welcome. :) This ride is 22-27 miles, give or take (depending on if we take one side street or another). It is in an entirely urban area with traffic (just to make sure you are aware), so please be comfortable sharing the road. As for pace, piano means roughly 14-16mph for most of it. It's a more relaxed pace for sure and we don't mind waiting for folks as it is no-drop. Also, you get a break in the middle with a bagel and pose session. :p
If you are comfortable with the above, please feel free to join us.

It looks like my DH and I are in! We'll do a trial 25 mile practice run tomorrow to make sure we can keep up :)
Can't wait to meet everyone!

If this is to the same bagel place we went last time, with the uber delicious death bagel with egg and cheese and tomato and some other stuff, I am so in. :)

Great, Grace!!! :) You and your DH will have fun, and really, don't stress too much about pace. We're easy (but not cheap ;))

Actually, I do believe you (although I'm not interested in purchasing your Rose Bowl :p). You flew up that thing to tell the others where I was, remember? :D

No, it's the corner of the park and there are parking spaces on the street right in front as well as a bathroom (nice to have before the ride starts!).

Yeah... until I got to the really steep parts and just about lost my uber delicious death bagel with egg and cheese and tomato and some other stuff. I think I posted in the ride report thread that when I did catch up to them they probably thought I was standing there silent for a few minutes enjoying the view from where they stopped; the truth is that between panting like a dog in heat and trying to keep my bagel down, I was actually unable to speak. :)

Marengo
Actually, Marengo and Palm are the same street for the simple fact that Marengo is on the South Pasadena side and Palm is on the Alhambra side. Alhambra Rd intersects Marengo/Palm and operates as the border. go figure!!

Piano is Il Bruto's term. It does mean piano. If you were going out to hammer, woud you listen to a piano concerto or head-banging drum rift? ;) We don't hammer so much on these rides (unless you really, really want to up St. Katherine's)

if this ride is cancelled then you should all come to mike vincent's benefit ride. support a fallen rider and have some fun with action sports pros. it's gonna be a fun slow ride, check the thread.

Merider1, I don't post much here as I'm a major lurker type [and until September of this year, I'll be a NorCal kid] but I've always appreciated the way you gave threads a certain vibrancy. So for all the times you've made me laugh, thanks! I hope you change your mind but if you don't, g'luck out there on the roads.
