April 6th Swap meet:
Drive in vendors 7:30 am
Walk in vendors 8am
Buyers 9am
Rumor has it Haro (http://www.harobikes.com) will be there.
I'm not going, but if you're looking for stuff, you can go there. If I went I might come back with an 8" travel bike, or something silly like that.

I hate how they say the buyers come 1 hour later than the sellers. I know it's supposed to give the sellers time to set up, but they usually set up in 30 minutes and use the remaining 30 minutes to buy any really good deals before the sellers come in.
I should stay away from there anyway. Need vs. want + my wife's opinion of the two.

I've only went there once, but it wasn't as much of a bargain as I thought it'd be. Kind of like seeing a lot of average-to-ok deals on craigslist.

curious question on the velodrome...where do you park? Do you go all the way back and park right next to it (past the "authorized vehicles only" sign)? I drove over there the other day when I was killing time and was wondering...

Well, for one the tennis club side parking lot is really far. :p
There are people parking on the baseball/soccer field parking lot and some even closer on the dirt lots near the velodrome entrance. I'm not sure how to get there though, but you probably know the routes within Balboa Park.

I usually park at the Dog Park parking lot. The closest parking is the dirt lot right next to it, which I believe is passed that "authorized vehicles only" sign.

Has anyone seen any deals on wheels in the past? Not worth the drive to save 10% on a set of wheels...

I bought a pair of Eurus there, reasonable price and the wheels are good. I don't think I'd drive there again, I'd probably pay a little more and buy a new set from lickbike.

I went there last year and granted I wasn't there real early, most of the stuff was almost junk or close to it. I was not very impressed. In clothing all that was left were either really small or large sizes. So if you go and expect to find something useful go early.

As urbanknight says, if you can get in during the buyer set up time, you might find better deals.
