I want to use a centaur triple crank (135 bcd) on my cross bike and I would like to go to a 2x10 setup using the inner and middle rings. Does someone make a chainring guard to put where the outer ring was - to take up the space? or should I use shorter bolts and no guard - let the FD keep the chain from falling off?

Any reason not to leave the outer ring in place as a "guard". It's probably no heavier than a replacement guard would be. Just set the fd's limit screws to prevent shifting into it.

Oterewise, just use the fd as a chain keeper and buy "single stack" chainring bolts.
