Advocacy & Safety - Another Reason To Hate ClearChannel Radio...

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I liked the FCC chairman in the story. He said:
"We got a complaint about that and we are acting on that," FCC Chairman Michael K. Powell  told the cyclists.
"A" to me means one, I filed one and I'm sure others did too. I'd be interested in knowing just how many complaints they got. My filing was met with a form letter talking about free speech but not jack #&*@ about them doing anything.

The name of the site says it all you might want to check it out. there is a pretty strong movement of several different groups that are going to the FCC and challenging the renewal of the stations licenses the one in Raleigh is up for renewal Dec 1st. Write the FCC to file a complaint. NO swearing, be polite and voice your displeasure. They will most likely ignore any letters that are abusive and full of profanity.

ngateguy, could you post the FCC addresses (e-mail address too if you have it) to facilitate those on the forums who will write?

"We deeply regret that comments made by on-air personalities were misinterpreted.
i like this one. the poor, misunderstood dj ... when he said 'throw your beer bottles at the cyclist then honk at him and run him over,' he was speaking figuratively. you've never heard that phrase?

I believe that the title of this thread is a little misleading. There is no "new" news here. The incidents cited in the complaint have all been discussed here before. On the other hand, I feel that the actions taken by the three groups of Clear Channel DJs were iresponsible and definitely worthy of censure and I do applaud the effective action taken by complaining to the FCC.

I wonder who else 'misinterpreted' them.

Thats the problem with clear channel they have a history of "misinterpretations" (beyond the cycling stuff) maybe they need an over haul of the management to prevent this in the future
