Hi! I'm a newb looking to test some recumbent trikes. I am located in San Jose, California. I have been looking at the Sun EZ Tadpoles (sx & cx) online and I think this style of trike would suit me best. Problem is that I can't seem to find a bike shop that carries these trikes in stock for testing. Very frusterating. Does anyone know where I can test these out locally? Thanks for the help.

Easy Racers
Airport Blvd. (off highway 1) Freedom, CA- 'bout 45 miles west, left, then 14 miles south- from San Jose. Had both SX and CX; so I tested then bought them both in 2005. Decided to keep the SX! #s in phone book.

That's not far at all, I'll make a day out of it. I appreciate the advice. Thanks!

The old Schwinn dealer in Sunnyvale carries them a well. No longer Schwinn, but they do have the Sun.
Go to: Walts Cycles on the corner of Carroll and Evelyn in Sunnyvale.
I called Walt's today and the guy said that there is no demand for recumbents, so he doesnt carry them. Bummer! He said he could special order one for me, he quoted $1299. OUCH! I called easyracers in Freedom CA and he said he could sell me a floor model for under $1000. What is a reasonable price for this bike (Sun ez tadpole sx) do you guys think?
Under $1000 sounds great to me. I checked every shop I could find here in Cincinnati and found the prices ranging from $1149 to $1249. I wound up going with the $1249 price, though, because the manager at the shop that offered the $1149 price was honest enough to tell me that although they would be more than happy to take my money and order one for me, they'd never seen or worked on the trikes, and that they'd heard good reports about one of the other shops (Fairfield Cyclery), and that I'd probably be better off spending the extra $100 to get it from someone who knew what they were doing with it to set it up for me. I'd have to say he was right; it's well worth the extra money to be dealing with someone who both knows and cares about what he's doing.

Very strange! My wife and I were in Walts last weekend, and looked at both a Sun recumbent bike and trike. I sat on the trike, so I know I am not imagining things.
There is a younger guy working there who seems to take great pleasure in screwing people around on information. Did you speak to someone with a high pitched voice, or the older fellow who owns the place? If the former, well, sorry to say, he has been a bit of an *ss to us in the past. The owner is very cool however.
Yeah it sounded like a younger guy. Guess I will have to stop in there and see for myself. Now, a question about the difference between the sun ez tad sx and the cx. What is better about the cx vs the sx?

Mainly components, same frame, next best derailleurs, shifters, chain ring, seat, etc. All fair but the seat on my CX was lighter, dumped the SX seat anyway for a hardshell w/ open cell foam. The SX is in my avatar- many upgrades, but same old SX frame. 3 years + that yellow is a dead giveaway how old it is!
