Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Broke another one!
Don't know how it was damaged, but when I was trying to straighten it up again (sometimes works) it snapped in my hands!
Oh well, it did it's job, better the hanger than the derailleur (XTR) or worse, the frame!
Time to order two hangers, one to use and a spare!
Just gotta make sure I get them in time for the the Fat Tire Festival on the 14th, down here near Tampa!

Come to Ft Lauderdale,
I'll show ya lots of places to break da hanger.
Here there are a lot of coral rocks (large bowling ball sized stuff) and sometimes the only way to clear is to shoot between them... Well if you miss then you can get your gear changer smashed on to a rock and its over...

:)...I am having worse and worse luck with those. Makes me wish harder for interally geared mid range hubs...
Ouch!! Good idea for the spare though

i broke my hanger bout two weeks ago, took it to the LBS to have them try and bend it back for me
they procceded to break it and i'm still waiting for a replacment, im convinced the store just sold my bike and are trying to keep me away with this "sorry it hasn't come in yet" crap
as a result i've been riding my sister's bike for a week, oh god how i wish that bike had even the slightest sembalance of a suspension
i broke my hanger...well actually i twisted it in a crash i had and i ended up having to buy a new dur and hanger...thats was the first part of my bad luck with bike componants..i also broke 3 chains!!

Yeah, that's pretty much what happened to me. Funny thing about aluminum, it doesn't like to be straightened after it bends. However, that's exactly what it's supposed to do, bend or break instead of damaging your frame.
I've gone ahead and ordered my two! I just hope they'll be here by next Thurs.

I had to special order mine because no one in the area is an Intense dealer. However, you should be able to get one for your Hardrock from ANY Specialized dealer. Expect to pay about $10-15 for it. (Mine were $20) Ahh the joys of riding a custom bike! :)

It's a small price to pay to be in such a great location for ridding.

I understand the price...thats why I shop online. Rarely can I afford anything at the lbs's. They are more designed to rip off th tourists when there stuff breaks.
And a2...I found a source in seattle for 8$ a hanger (12 cdn)...thanx anywas ;) :D...
