Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - This is me giving spring the middle finger

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
OK, I've had it with snow and this rate spring isn't going to becoming any time soon other then on the calender. And it's been depressing seeing all of these picture and reading posts about people going on terrifically long rides. So Monday was the day, screw this I don't care if I freeze on the way to work I'm biking again.
The snow here is still waist deep and I'm 5'10 but the sun finally has some power to it. It's been about -10c in the morning and 2c on the way home.
All I can say right now is that I feel good, and i haven't froze yet.

Beanz that's cruel.
Here's a picture from the weekend, I tried to take my snowshoes off to make a fire. Anyway my butt stopped me from touching the ground. Needles to say I now know what it would feel like to be stuck in quick sand.

I've seen some grass, after months of only seeing snow, it's amazing, there actually is grass and dirt under all that white, and some early spring plants have popped up in the garden. What is funny, is that the snow banks are in the light gray phase now, on their way to brown before they turn into those black slivers of hard ice, that
you break up and throw on the road on a warm rainy day to get rid of them quicker. The weather forecasters have all used the word seasonal when talking about temperatures for next week, so maybe it's starting to break. Looks good for some reasonable before the beginning of the real season riding next week, and even better the week after:beer: Might even check and see if I can get to the Barbecue next week!!!!!

Those pictures make me cold just thinking about it. I had to suffer through a 45 degree ride earlier in the week. Right now it is 8:30pm in Northern Alabama and the temperature is finally about to hit 70 on the way to tonights low of 57. We can talk though in July and August when it is 95 with about 150% humidity.

Mr. Beanz,, I gotta ask, where is this place where you took the pic. Were to them bike trails go, are they
good for getting places or just a place to ride. They sure look nice and peaceful.

Argus (http://www.bikeforums.net/member.php?u=109287) Wow! Dude,
The trail starts in Corona California, travels to the coast Huntington Beach. It is 30 miles one way so 60 roundtrip. We usually start at Imperial Hwy and the 91 fwy which makes for a 42 roundtrip ride. We ride only on the weekends cause it takes us 30 minutes of traveling to get to it. I live at the base of the mtns but the wife doesn't care to do 20 mile climbs so we do this trail (Santa Ana River Trail). Plus it is much cooler than the inland on hot summer days 100+.
It travels right next to the Honda Center (Ducks hockey home) and Anaheim Angel Stadium/Edison Field. Many people jump on the trail then jump off at different points. Some heading to and from work. Mostly sport riders from what I see but a great place to commute. I know a few that use it for that. There are many parks on the trail so every once in a while, walkers will be heading to the park and such.
30 miles is a long way so I'm usre there are quite a few that use it for more than just sport riding. There are plans to connect it with another section in the city of Riverside which will make it 60'ish miles one way!:D

The pic above is aobut a mile from the coast city of Huntington Beach. This is in Anaheim. A small park across the river from The Honda Center about 15 miles from the coast. Anaheim stadium is about a mile away.. Trail crosses over nd continues over there right next to it!:D
Forum member Condorita and I. We run into eachother quite often on the trail She hangs with us at the rest stops on the coast. Nice lady, good sense of humor!

I took this years first road ride on tuesday. Weater was beautiful but cold, +1C(maybe +5 in the sun) when I went out and -2 C 2½ hours later when I got back . My feew were frozen but I was happy anyway. Since then we've got about 15cm more snow wich won't melt until after the weekend.
Met a friend about mid ride who took this pic

Edit: oh yeah, I actually had something to say too! Get/use neoprene booties! I forgot mine and was mad at myself for it. With them I've been doing 40-80 minute intenese mountain biking rides on warmer days this winter and my feet have been nice and toasty.
To date this year we've had over 13.5ft of snow, we missed the record by 10 inches. The roads right now are good and mostly dry. But most of the bike lanes are still under snow, and will be until it melts.

Yup, spring in Maine today (picture of our weather).

This Tour de Cure thing, I'm thinking on it, I have been a member of the American Diabetes Association since my son was diagnosed at 12 years old, the disease has basically dicked up his life.

When they say 20% chance of rain here in California that = 0 rain, I wish it would rain a little more here.
