so i am getting an internal gear hub and the only shifters that work with it and twist grips...the problem is, i i have road drop bars and i can't put on the twist shifters...so this is what i am thinking...i've seen these minoura swing grips...is it possible to just mount the shifter on there?

I don't recommend it. Mountain bars are usually tapered to a smaller diameter near the grips (where the grip shifts would be). And those items intended to be mounted on the "swing grip" are generally intended to be mounted near the center of the handlebar (away from your hands). So I would guess that the diameter of the the swing grip is not compatable with the diameter of the grip shifts. At least check the diameter of the swing grip vs the grip shifts.

However if they're the same, then you should be able to mount them, but DON'T PUT YOUR WEIGHT ON THE BAR WHEN YOU SHIFT GEARS. That thing is only designed to hold small items and will most likely snap off some day, and go right into your front wheel, and you'll do a face plant.

Have you thought about switching to straight bars?

Sheldon Brown's web site lists a Hub Bub adapter to mount twist shifters on drop bars. Here is the URL, just scroll down to see them:
