I did a forums search for Cambridge and found nothing. Anyone from around there? I'm at the UWaterloo School of Architecture down in Galt. I've never seen any other cyclists when I do my short downtown -> HWY401 Cedar Creek Rd loop in the evenings.

You never see other riders. ? I see numerous riders on my evening rides.
I live in the south west end of Kitchener. Quite often I ride the area you are talking about. I try to avoid riding Cedar Creek Rd (Highway 97). Too many trucks in the 401 area.
Try riding Blenheim road. It runs paralell to Cedar Creek rd. It turns into Roseville rd when you get out of Cambridge. Blenheim rd starts at Grand Ave near the dam.
If you are new to the area and would like some routes in the area, let me know. I can give you a few decent rides. What area of Cambridge do you live in?

I live in downtown Cambridge (Galt), right next to Blenheim Rd, actually.

BTW Yan, I live in Cambridge. You can hook up with a group from Cambridge Cycle (ask for Winston) if you want to go for group rides. There are a couple of other bike stores in town that run regular rides (Gears and Grills, and Hub bicycle shop up in Hespeler).

Gears and Grills is now Grand River Cycle (new ownership, I think) and no longer sells barbecues.

I live in Kitchener (study at the UW main campus, actually). I may do the Tour de Grand, not sure yet--I would want to do at least 100 km if I go, and am still in the process of working up to that distance comfortably. The routes are posted on Bikely.com if you want to check them out (look for other routes in the area as well while you're there).

BTW Yan, I'm not sure if the organized rides from the bike shops cost a few bucks to go on. I've been meaning to check them out, however I usually go by myself or with some other people in the area. If you're a student you'll probably want to hook up with a group that doesn't cost any money. Give them a call first before showing up on their ride night if it's a concern.
