I dunno...I need to start putting together a decent touring/utility/commuter project bike.
I`m thinking of going with the Long Haul Trucker and picking up an xtracycle kit with QR`s for when I need to carry a biggie load.
Anyone done this? Pics?
come on people, you know you love to show off your xtracycles!

Not my LHT, but you can contact the owner through his Flikr account (http://www.flickr.com/photos/shanerh/485053056/) + he has a bunch of cool LHT/Xtra touring pics.
I think the combo would be a pretty fun rig to ride...:p
Are you talking about swapping the Freeradical off and on the LHT as you need it? If so, you would be better off with a trailer.

Agreed if we are talking about swapping out the Xtra regularly, but it seems that most folks install the Xtra and then never take it off so you might find that you like riding your Xtra'd LHT all the time. Plus if you wanted to remove it a couple times a year that wouldn't be a huge deal.

Not very practical. What are you going to about the lengthened chain, derailer and brake cables when you take it off? And if you use a disc brake on the rear, you'll have to swap the rotor since the Xtracycle is set up for a 203mm rotor.
I converted a Specialized Hardrock and find that it's different, but at least as much fun to ride with the Free Radical. And VERY practical.

I'm going with the crowd and am saying you will be better served with something like a Burly Flatbed trailer.
