Part of the fun of being married to a kindergarten teacher are the stories she has about her day. There is always at least one story that is good for a laugh. And one of the joys of small town living is being able to take a noon bike ride and wave at her and the kids on the playground. Sometimes the kids come flocking to the fence to wave and shout at "Mr. Mono...or Bicycle Man."
So yesterday she's asking the kids to think of big things they would like to do. As an example, she mentions that someday I want to ride my bike from California to the other side of the country, and how long do they think it would take me?
A little boy named Blake said "...three days! But Mr. Mono is pretty fast so he might can do it in one day".
Ah, to be a child again.

My wife thinks I'm still a kindergarten student. Can't say I blame her.

LOL,That should make it to the top of The Biker Story List./Ken
Very cute! Hubby's daughter (almost 40) guessed it would take us "a few days" to ride 100 miles. :o

Cute story!
It's not just kindergarten teachers. Before my wife retired stories about her 4th and 5th graders were good for lots of laughs.
And for that matter my 13 year old niece thinks I'm practically Lance Armstrong. I'm her "crazy awesome uncle who rode his bike 100 miles in a day!!"

Yes, I attained a fair amount of prestige amongst my son's friends when I did the Ride the Rockies a number of years back. They all followed the progress (as reported on TV and the newspaper) avidly. They think I am in really good shape!

Your hubby's daughter is not alone. My doctor asked the same question when I told him I had rode 100 miles:)

Now the problem with these kindergarten kids is that they grow up. Before long- they are out of the short pants and into riding their cycles all over town- Then one day- there is a charity ride and they enter- only to find that their "Hero" has slowed down a bit and is that old bloke at the back that we have to keep waiting for.
I used to run the local cycling proficiency class at the local school- along with a few friends- and I went on a local Offroad Event with a few of my Muddy buddies. There he was- one of the kids on my first session in charge- on the hill in front of me- looking behind and wondering if I was that bloke that taught him to ride a bike.

The down side of being married to a Kindergarden teacher is when she takes away my recess.

Many years ago, in another city, I was the Little League baseball coach for one of the local policeman where I now live. He was a pretty good catcher, but now he carries a Glock. I know how you feel. :):):)

I spoke to my niece today. She asked about our bike riding and asked if we "just ride around the neighborhood". I said oh no, we go a little further, usually 20+ miles is our typical ride.
 "That is so awesome!"
It's hard to feel 50+ when people less than half my age are that amazed about something we do that requires hardly any effort.

.....something we do that requires hardly any effort.
Oh yeah? Listen to the woman who was boasting, a year ago, about how she was riding blockies without falling off! I read the reports!
I'm just not long back from a 20 kilometre ride, and pleased as Punch that I lost only a weensy wee squidgeon of speed for the ride in a breeze the weather bureau is telling me is currently holding at 26 to 30 kph. I'm not so sure about that "hardly any effort". Okay for you folks whose nerve receptors have atrophied, I guess :D
But yeah. The comments received are kinda cute, for sure. Monoborracho, that snippet about the kindergarten kids is delightful.
I've three grand-daughters staying over at present. The reaction of the oldest when I mentioned that a 20 km ride was the reason I wasn't going visiting with her and Nanna was funny. The jawdrop when I told her the ride was a light one ahead of tomorrow's 70km group ride was great!
