anyone interested in getting a group together for a long, medium/high intensity training ride? say 75 miles max with plenty of climbing. minimal stops with food at the end.
ideas?

well i'm thinking somewhere down here in the hills. there are plenty of options. i'm hesitant to suggest anything up in that area because i don't know it that well. but suggestions are welcome. i just want to get a bunch of people together who are committed to riding and who can talk while riding if they have to so the thing won't take all day.

Well, Chuckles, you and I both know that you'd drop me in a nano second. :p I'm just suggesting that mountain as it's my go to for training.

baldy is kind of boring to me. it's just a big climb, then you turn around. and that turnaround point at the village is alwyas going to cause delays. i'm looking to do a big loop.
i've been wanting to get a big group together for a ride in the fallbrook/ de luz area down here.

Yeah, interested. Sundays are better for us, but....

you don't have to talk to anyone. just concentrate on pwning the guy/girl next to you on the climbs. it is what makes everyone else stronger.

As long as there's a route slip. I don't mind joining you guys at the start... then go have some post-ride meal an hour after you guys.

there can be a route slip. maybe there could be a couple/few different speed groups with the understanding that one group will not be waiting for the next.

If you guys are getting together for a ride on Sunday I am in.
Just to let you all know, I'll be in contention for the red jersey in the climbs...:p

I'm in with the super slow group. Not wanting to hi-jack this thread, but I'm heading out to Palomar for a couple of repeats (probably just 2) in prep for the MC if anyone is interested.

not at all. i just want a nice group ride with a good brisk pace and one or two short stops at the most. then we can hang out and eat/chat all we want at the end. BBQ at the beach after?

Depending on schedules I may be interested. You know all the upcoming races, if you fine a weekend without one I'm probably free.
Interested, but I probably won't survive a med/high intensity ride nowadays.

I'm interested. Is the Indolent/Grumpi Pig's century suitable? The one that Dan rode by himself a couple of weeks ago. Not hilly enough? I think it is pretty hilly (5500 feet) and Grumpy has got a route slip for it. My problem is that I don't have too many free weekends during April and May. :(

Saturday probably start at 8 - 9am, the warmer the start the better for me - less crap to wear and carry.

Baldy is NEVER boring. But if you want to knock out 75 miles with not too much traffic, start out in Malibu and head north on PCH pass thru Hueneme, Oxnard and head out to Ventura and back. voila!!
DaveSANYYZ
03-28-08, 08:47 PM
That sounds like the final stretch of the Grand Tour route. I never really like that stretch of PCH with residential housing along the coast/parked cars, and cars zooming south on PCH. It's also quite a bit of drive from SD though. :p

I wouldn't say Baldy is boring, but after you've done it a few times, it just doesn't have the same appeal. Not sure why, maybe it isn't enough of a ride. Not nearly as nice as Angeles Crest from Red Box.
PCH sucks less after Malibu, but it still sucks.
second weekend of April and I'm in.

my idea is to start in fallbrook and go north through de luz canyon, down into temecula, then south along 395 to rainbow, rice canyon, couser, canyon, west lilac, then 395 back to the start.

I'm interested, but I'll probably riding with Dave.
