The Stupidest Bike Lane (http://www.slatev.com/player.html?id=1475273846)

A bike lane that goes less than a city block in Westwood. That would make me feel a lot safer in L.A.

it puts you right in the door zone, UR better off after it ends.

California DOT distinguishes types of bike lanes as Class I, II, or III.

I = completely separated from the roadway, like a MUP.
II = stripe on the road with signage saying "bike lane"
III = no special bike accomodations but signage for "bike route"

I think a city gets a little extra money from the state for street construction and maintenance if they have a class II bike lane so that might be why this one-block lane is there... money.

This kind of stuff is pretty common out here in the suburbs. Often towns will have lanes that dump you into the next town in a place you don't want to be, or lanes that just end.
Such is life
Around here the trails just end, but you find them picking up around the corner, down a block.

I should video some for this guy.

That's nothing. In Melbourne, FL, there's a bike lane that's only 50 feet long.

Might be the stupidest in the US, but not in the world.

There's at least one that's less than a quarter the length of the one in the video in Elk Grove.
