Bicycle Mechanics - sliding seat post

Hi, I am having a problem with my seat post sliding down into the frame. I have the QR clamp pretty tight. Is there something I can apply? Rosin? What do I do? Thanks.

If it's a carbon post in a carbon frame, use some Tacx assembly lube instead of grease. It also works well for carbon/aluminum, aluminum/carbon, aluminum/steel (though grease should still allow it to stay) or aluminum/aluminum. For titanium I prefer using anti-seize compound to prevent galling.

You'll also want to check to see if it's the right size post for the frame.

Grease or anti-seize the seatclamp QR threads and lube the cam for better torque.

If it's a removable clamp, look into a beefier model.

Double check the size then. I have not had any issue at all with posts in any of my steel or aluminium frames when using aluminium seat posts.

Or just a thought.... is this one of the boutique style QR levers? The ones with the little plastic saddle? I only have one of those still and it requires an almost superhuman amount of force to avoid slipping. The frames that use good ol' bolts and an allen key pinch and hold nicely without a metal welding like force being needed.

If I were you I'd put a bolt on it.

The post fits fine in the frame. I just lubed the quick release, was able to tighten it down more. Thanks for the help.
