Nope, not the bike chain although it did snap once when I was going to work, right as I was sprinting from an intersection. Didn't crash as I wasn't sprinting too hard.
At work, there was a chain that they used to close off the back entrance of our plant. Rumors is that the company was trying to prevent people who don't work here from cutting through our parking lot as a short cut. But it was always a pain for us commuters because we all used that entrance to leave to take the back roads to and from work. I used to go under it (limbo style) as I could just barely fit on the ends where it was higher. We complained alot, I would email HR once a week to get them to raise it and/or remove it. Now, it's gone, it was removed on Halloween and today, it wasn't there. I kept trying to push for a concrete block, thereby peds and us could go through but no cars, but apparently was told the fire dept didn't like the idea.
I hate when people do stuff without thinking about us cyclists. Even when the mass transit goes on strike, the NYC reporters always tell people they can walk without remembering that people can bike too, and faster than walking (and driving for that matter in the city).
