Hey everybody, its me again. :D
The local boyscout troop of which my brother is a member is hoping to raise money by offering food at the next Blackwater Eagleman Triathlon. They are planning on having something like BBQ chicken etc. I was wondering what you guys feel like eating before and after a triathalon. Does anyone have any sugestions?
Thanks for any input. Pual J.
Before: bagels, bananas, powerbars
After: Never run out of drinks. Yes it happens. Water and Gatorade are a must after the race to rehydrate. Chicken sounds good; but, besides fruit put out some junk food :) cookies, brownies, chips, donuts.
Junk food. Absolutely. And whatever you have, make sure there's lots.
Pizza is easy and perfect. Beer is good too, but I'm not sure the boy scouts need to be selling it ;)
I love BBQ chicken, but sometimes the effort makes it less appealing after a race.

Real food. Gels and bars and Sports drinks get old.

Ok, great! Those sound like some pretty good suggestions. What do you think of Roast Beef, gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans ,and a couple of really good homemade dinner rolls?
Personally, my stomach can not handle a meal let alone a heavy meal soon after a race. I like stuff you can easily carry while you look for friends. Junk food is the reward for all the hard work you put in. Some races have offered boxed lunches with a choice of cheese, meat, or tuna.

I really like fruit juice and donughts personally. Being able to walk around with the food is important and sugar is a must.
Some people will be able to eat meat after a tri but a lot won't. You'll hit a larger portion of the people there with easily digestable carbohydrates. Pasta, garlic bread, enchiladas, pizza, brownies.

Barbeque sounds pretty nice actually, though I would also try and make sure that there is a lot of fresh fruit and a huge pasta salad on hand. I would personally go for a chunk of chicken and a huge bowl of pasta salad with a banana or apple to follow up.
Mmmm! In fact, I could eat that right now! :-D
