My youngest son is a junior this year and is spending this semester at the Citrus County School's Acadamy of Environmental Science. The school is located on the Salt River and all of the classes are related to the study of the environment. They go out in boats or canoes almost every day for different classs exercises. On Friday I went there to show one of his teachers the kayak and the canoe that my son and I made. While I was out I took a nice paddle down the Crystal river to the Salt river and then out into the edge of the gulf and paddled around some of the many coastal islands. It was pretty windy on the way out and I got a good work out. When I go out alone I like to paddle hard for the exersise.

A bule heron looking for some lunch. I was drifting one way and he was wading the other, so a hurried shot.

About 5 miles in the distance it the Crystal River Energy Complex. One of the largest power generation stations in the country. Over 3,000 megawatts.
