Here is my bike http://www.feltbicycles.com/index.php?int_z35_07
How would it look with a White saddle and White bar tape? I need a black saddle for my FCR 1. The black Alias would go on it and a new white one on the Felt.

Nice bike. I think a white saddle would look ridiculous on this or most any other bike.

I think it's your bike, do what ever you want with it.
Just my opinion, of course. :)

I think a white saddle and white bar tape look wonderful on a black bike. Here's a pic of the 2008 Specialized Ruby Expert. It looks even better at the LBS.

What's your absolute least favorite color? Buy a saddle that color. The only way to keep yourself from getting sick will be to hide that ugly saddle under your toucus. You'll get in lots more riding time than if you have an esthetically pleasing saddle.
OK, OK, I can see that showing an example of a woman's bike might not be the best way to agree with you. So here's a black Madone.

Don't you worry about what happens if something breaks down on a ride, or you get a flat, and you have to ride home w/greasy/dirty hands? There goes the bar tape. Or do you have a bike butler along on the rides to take care of the dirty work?

Why that's easy. Buy a can of GoJo hand cleaner - the kind without the pumace. Smear a dab on each handlebar and hose it off. Presto - spiffy white handlebar tape again. Takes about the same amount of time as typing this post.

It will look like it's hard to keep clean.
If you're going to get white bar tape, get a leather tape, or something with a less absorbant fabric. I have two Bianchis. Both with white bar tape. The older bike has a leather/vinyl type tape and has held up well. The newer bike has a cork type tape that's now turned light gray. Of course, less absorbant tape is not desirable when the weather is really hot.
EDIT: The Bianchi in the picture has a leather/vinyl type tape with a couple of seasons on it. It's held up well, but cork tape does not.

My new Specialized Allez came with a white saddle, which I asked the LBS to switch to a black one. I didn't care for the look of the white saddle at all. My bike also has blue bar tape, which I don't like either (It's already dirty, after just a month of riding). Some day I'll change that to black, too.

I like the look of the Madone and the Expert, so I think the Felt will look just as good.....I say "go for it"......nice bike BTW!
ps: a friend told me "simple green" is the trick to keeping the white bar tape clean

Many of the new bikes are shown with white tape. The only drawback I see is they'll show dirt faster.

Dirty bar tape shows that the bike is being used, not shown....:). Not that it matters, but I like the white. It would be better though if the bike were white.

Thanks for the tip, Retro! My new 2007 Ruby has white handlebar tape.

Hmmm. Simple Green is a good all-purpose cleaner to have around the house. Might have to try this, too!

You know what you have done-Don't you??????
White bikes only exist in Sandiego and are Babe magnets. How can you get any riding in with 3 girls flung round your neck. Look what it has done to DG. He has to go offroad now to stop his road bike being mobbed every time he takes it out.
OK White tape- Don't like it myself as I am in the Motor trade and ooze black grease from the pores in my hands. Only one tone for me and it has to be Dark- preferably black and as for the saddle- White saddles are for posing- because it doesn't matter what colour it is once you are sitting on it and riding. MInd you- when following a Rider and you see the brass plate on the back telling you it is a well worn top name saddle- It does tell you not to try and stay with that rider
I have had too many years of MTB's covered in mud to worry about what a bike looks like. Mind you- I still take pride in a clean bike.

don't Bernard Hinault hear you say that!

I think you should put a white saddle and white bar tape on it. Be sure to wear a white belt and shoes and a plaid sportcoat whenever you ride it.
I think I will stay with the black. Don't want girls all over me the wife would not like that:mad:. And if she aint happy aint nobody happy:(.

Sansabelt cycling shorts as well. You forgot to mention that the plaid jacket needs to be double knit.

Tntom - Are you riding a Felt F1? I am negotating with my LBS over this bike and really looking for some input about the ride qualities. Your link goes to another bike Z35, I think?

I've seen this Felt model up close. It's a great bike, and a pretty good buy, too. I think white is a trendy color right now. How much longer this will be the case is anyone's guess. Aesthetically, I have no problem with white seat and tape on the bars. It can be a nice contrast. Those who indicate that white is a bit harder to keep clean are on target. One thing to think about (or not as you desire). If any of the white saddle is visible from the back to others while you are riding, the color of shorts you wear may be important to you. A white seat peeking through under black shorts will draw the eye right to that spot. So, do you want people drawn to that spot? One more thought.... Doesn't the Alias (even the black one) come with plastic tabs on the rear of the saddle. Maybe you could get one with silver colored tabs. The would be subtle yet right within your current color scheme.
I don't like to clean so I am going to stay with black.
Just as well. I got to thinking that black bikes with white saddles and white tape remind me a little of:
