Here's what I've come up with: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Reseda-to-Travel-Town
My biggest concern is getting from the Chandler bike path to Griffith Park. Looking at bikely.com I was thinking of cutting down Pass to Forest Lawn and into Griffith Park. I'm looking at Travel Town to be our final destination.
Any ideas? We're pretty new to riding and don't want to set ourselves up for disappointment if we can't complete the ride. Our longest so far has been 14 miles and it was a breeze.
TIA,
Grace

No easy way to get from the Chandler path to Griffith Park. It's one of the biggest failings of the routes - they don't connect.
If it were me, I'd take Woodman to Riverside (both have bike lanes), then Riverside to Colfax, Colfax to Moorpark and Moorpark all the way through Toluca Lake to grab Forest Lawn right from Barham. There are more turns in there I can map for you, if you're interested in that.
Since you're new to riding, you may just want to stick to Chandler though. Your route is as good as any I can think of. I've ridden Chandler all the way to Victory and taken Victory down, but that's definitely more heavily trafficked.

Take Sparks to Oak (L) to Mariposa (R) to Riverside (L) to Victory(R) to the 3 way stop just past the frwy off ramp Right to Travel Town. You could turn Left at the 3 way to Gene Autry then turn around, to Travel Town for some extra credit. Maybe a added 1 mi. Griffith is a great place to ride. Take your car for a Sunday park spin to scout the area.

Thanks Magicant! After taking a look at your route on bikely, I'm thinking of turning down Clybourn from Moorpark, then taking Lakeside to Olive/Barham. Clybourn looks like it'll be quiter than Pass and Olive.

Thanks for the tip, Andyflo! I'm going to save it for a time when I think I can earn that extra credit ;)

I've taken the path almost all the way to the east end (past Buena Vista) then gone down Griffith Pk. Dr. South through till you get to Oak, which is so. of Verdugo. East on Oak to Main. Main to Riverside, then so. on Victory to Zoo Dr.
Just a little different than the usual Forest Lawn straight shot....
