My father is active, but has very limited use of his left hand. Because of this, he has problems pulling the front brake lever and feels uncomfortable doing so at speeds of more than 5-8mph. He is able to shift because chainring shifting is more premeditated than braking is. He has a Trek 4300 that he uses to ride on greenway paths (paved foot/bike paths through parks around town) and more mild fire roads just one day a week. Are there any options for a brake lever that will pull both cables at once? I realize it wouldn't be hard to modify one to do so, but you would only be able to adjust cable tension of one cable this way. Any input would be great on this.

Did you find the solution? You could always switch to moto controls. Right hand front, left rear.

Another forum member had this to say about controlling two brakes from one lever:

At one time Dia Compe produced a tandem model of the Aero 287V level that incorporated two brake cable anchors in the right hand brake lever. This was known as the 287T and/or 287 Tandem. Some of the dealers like Mel Kornbluh at TandemsEast.com or perhaps Mark Johnson at PrecisionTandems.com may still have some of these around or they may have information regarding the follow-on levers from Cane Creek, the SCM-5V.

There is also something called a wishbone dual brake cable control. Again, the same two folks -- Mel or Mark -- will likely have them. Here's a link to a photo of one on Mel Kornbluh's website... near the bottom of the page:

I have a delta tricycle (Sun EZ-3 AX), with brakes on all three wheels, but only two levers. The two rear brakes are operated by a single lever.
