It has been windy here for most of the past month. I rode the bike to work Friday and was surprised at the differance in speed and time. I knew that the morning head wind would make it a slower ride than the evening tail wind but it really was a large differance. It is 18.4 miles each way, morning head wind was 10-15 mph and evening tail wind was 20-25 mph. It took 2 hours and 15 minutes in the morning and 1 hour and 5 minutes in the evening.

Start looking for those headwinds- Gives you an excuse to be late for work.

Be thankful you didn't have those 20-25 mph winds in the morning:eek:

Around here I try to get going upwind early in the morning before they really get blowing. The, return downwind later in the day. Easily a factor of two in speed and you feel like superman/woman.

Nice commuter! Here's hoping for a little better weather but it doesn't look like this week is going to be that great either.

Nor here either. Rain, snow and wind. 60 mph gust at the university yesterday. 4-6 inches of snow last night and now 35 mph winds. I am really beginning to hate my trainer!

Update - now gusting to over 40. 1-3 inches more snow expected this evening and tonight. Good news is that winds will only gust to 30 mph tomorrow.:eek:
