Introductions - New to road bike...and loving it!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hello everyone,
I am new to road biking and loving it! I just bought a Lapierre FDJ replica (nothing fancy.....but i fell in love with the geometry and fit of the frame! and the price.....$800)
I used to be an avid mtb rider.....but moved over an hour away from any mountains (from north of montreal to Montreal's south shore) I can honestly say that a mountain bike (even with slicks) on flat, windy roads really sucks....so i sold my baby and bought my Lapierre! In my first week i logged 100+ kms, yes despite the 6 foot high snow banks(90% of the roads are dry/wet pavement)and cold temps....i am rapidly falling in love with the roads i despised on my mtb.
I also want to thank everyone who contributes to this forum for welcoming and advising me.....
have a great season everyone!

You were out riding now? Wow, very good :D . You are brave! Have you looked at our Winter Cycling forum? Yes, it can be done...
Do you have any photos of the Lapierre? My understanding is that they are high quality bicycles, but I don't think I have ever seen one here in Washington State.
Welcome to BF!

Congrats and welcome Andre.
You'll find many avid MTBers here who has discovered the joys of road biking and now finds it has become their preferred way to roll. Lots of clydes (see clydes/athenas forum here for more info), also seem to love the those fast rolling, momentum-holding skinny wheels. I used to wonder why Tom Stormcrowe migrated more toward road biking ... now I know.
That said, I'll be looking forward to getting back out on the trail with my family when they are ready to break out the knobbies.
