A group of BF riders went to Baldy Village yesterday and Mary took some pictures. It was Magicant's birthday ride. He's just a kid of 43.
The b-day boy, early in the climb.

There are 2 dams to climb over near the bottom. They have more water then I have seen before.

It was gorgeous.

Wow, Big John. What gorgeous country. Thanks for the report! How on earth did Mary get that picture of the birthday boy?

Here's Lisa on the quiet, middle section of the climb.

A little further up, the clouds broke for good, and we had sun again.

Here is a shot from early on, when the clouds came in.

She has a camera that she can wear on her wrist. We have tried to discourage her from shooting from the saddle, but she is good at it.
Here is a shot at the lodge/lunch stop.

It's 35 miles, or so to the lodge, and you gain 5000 feet. We return a different way, about 29 miles with 1200 feet of gain.

I'll be out there in less than 3 weeks to do this ride. Can't wait.

Nice shots! And to think I live so close. No one there looks to belong to the 50+ thread. Is this another type of Poseur?

Oops, almost forgot.

Happy B'day Magicant! A few more years and you'll join the ranks.

I'm seated on the far right and just to my right is Thomson, he's over 50, and behind Big Mark you can see the white hair of JustMe, a BF 50+ member.
Here are a couple shots from Hansolo, (didn't get his real name, but he's Lisa's husband). The little cafe is the first rest stop, about 15 miles in. The lady in the center is my clubmate Carrie. She is a great climber.

Three generations? mkadam68 is about 40, urbanknight in the middle is 28, and JustMe is, well, I don't know, but he has a white beard.

I need to find a new job where I don't have to work the weekends.
I miss all the good rides.

I would love near the mountains like that, it's beautiful. I think it would take some time to get use to climbing. It must keep you in pretty good shape John, thanks for sharing.

Here is a pic of Mary, giving instructions to the newbies.

Mark, standing next to her, is as strong as an ox.

Was it winter on this ride? Everyone is dressed like it's 30 degrees.

Great shots! Thanks for sharing. I suspect that when I finally get around to confronting a ride like that I'll be packing a tent!

I thought I recognized some of the scenery. A friend used to live in Upland, CA off of Euclid and another friend has a boy going to Harvey Mudd. It's a beautiful area. Thanks for taking us there with the great pictures.

I was riding today and it was in the 50's F and maybe low 60's. There's a front moving in. Here in Northern California this is really serious weather. It might rain later this week!

It was a high of about 55-58 degrees, but in the cloudy, higher sections it was probably low 40s.
Here is Lisa on the bottom of the first serious climb after the cafe break.

She was quite pleased to make it to the top!

O.K., one more. Here's Scootcore on the way up.

Great photos John!

I was on Solvang Double this weekend, so not on the mountain. Last weekend Chuck and I rode Glendora to the top of the Ski Lifts (still snow on the ground there), then back down Little GMR to 39, U-turn, back up the GMR and down to Glendora.

I'm not seeing any ski-lift area photos here . . .

Jon (whitecarbondude) was on a different ride, but passed my while we were both going up Little GMR. Jon was one the double this weekend too.

No, Rick, nobody went to the ski lifts. Vertical Bob went up 39 to Angeles Crest and the road is still blocked by snow before Dawson Saddle.
My friend Pete saw you at the double, he's the one on the blue Riv with fenders.
