I heard that some pro riders have managed to get a strap onto their Look Keo pedals. Does anyone have a good picture of this mod, or know how to do it?

looks like something that was milled out of a good chunk of aluminum. maybe a second smaller plate binds the two from the other side.

I remember seeing an SPD-SL (not SPD-R) pedal that had a hold drilled through part of the pedal so that a toe clip could be screwed into it. You might be able to do something similar to a Keo, but I'd make sure you aren't drilling through anything important first.

Here is a method for adding a single strap to a Shimano SPD-SL pedal. The idea would be the same and it should be able to be changed to work with a set of Keos.

I just thought I would post this up incase it helps anybody. I was interested in adding straps to my Track Pedals, so that I could use one shoe/cleat combo for all my bikes. I was using the old style look cleats (don't laugh) and this was my economical solution. The pedals I used are quite cheap, and performance also offers a similar pedal that is keo compatible, but not that cheap...

The Forte pedals have a small hole created by the pedal body and the retention spring. You can thread a small zip-tie through the hole and make a loop. Cut the excess zip-tie. Now you can thread the strap through the two looped zip-ties when you need them, and leave them off when you don't. the zip-ties only support the straps when they are not on your foot. Once the straps are tightened, the body of the pedal takes all the weight. You may not see through the pictures but the body of the pedal has a perfect groove that the strap positions in when loaded.

It is a very simple and effective system....
