Currently living in Washington and decided to start commuting to/from work. Currently have a Schwinn Ranger, which works fine for the abusive hills I have to ride. Will be looking to upgrade significantly as I'm looking into getting some trail time and possibly get back into backpacking as well. Got hooked on these forums just stopping by to get some commuting tips.

Specifically in Kent, Wa. In an area known as East Hill. Is that where you're from? I'm originally from Johnson City, New York, but grew up in Mesa, AZ and Ontario, California.
