I am a new resident in the DC area, having relocated here ahead of my family to take a position in the city. I was happy to find out that I don't need a car, and so, have been looking at resurrecting my interest in biking after being away from it for almost 30 years. I have a Raleigh Competition dating from that period that I am considering resurrecting or replacing as I start to explore this interest again.

I am interested in biking both for utilitarian reasons (buying groceries and not being limited to a 1 mile walk or a bus ride) and for fun. I hope to find some local groups to join on some rides on the numerous trails around Arlington.

I commuted from Prince Georges County though DC to Alexandria and back for several years. I found DC to be a good bike commuting city. Arlington in particular is good with bike planning, but riding in the city is easy, too, as it's very interconnected.
