Saw that while looking for those "Ear bags" thought it would make a great gift. They supposedly strap to your helmet straps and cover your ear (while you have the helmet on, obviously).
Anybody try these yet?

I have seen them but based on my last few days of cycling in the cold wind I wouldn't want them. Yesterday I rode in a nasty 30 F harsh N wind and I was wearing a head band, the kind that covers your ears, forehead and the back of your head.
I quickly went to LBS and bought a balaclava. I used it today and it wasn't as cold but man it was nice. You can pull it on and off of your face when you need it and beats the heck out of anything else I have tried. Mine is just the poly type, I wouldn't want a heavy material unless temps were much colder.
Skullcap (covers head and 1/2 the ear) for cool weather and full balaclava for cold weather.
I have a suspicion you'd look a little funny with the earmuffs. :p
I have not tried them but they look like they might have the side effect
of reducing wind noise. When cold enough I find a head band good for
ears but it can cause enough sweating on hills to occasionally be too
much. This looks like an intermediate solution. Balaclavas in my
experience are too warm above 30-35F. Steve
I use a baclava or something along those lines myself. I swear, I have some of the smallest ears around- my entire family has really tiny ears. I can barely fit those headphones that you place in the ears inside my ears. They just don't fit. Stuff that's normally designed for the ears never fit. Sunglasses are difficult to prevent from falling off my face because they keep slipping off my ears. If you're anything like me, I would think the covers wouldn't work.
Too bad, though, because they look mighty warm... :(

I already have a balaclava (actually not a true balaclava but what's known as a Neck Gaiter..) the ear things are a replacement for a headband. I have problems with headbands always falling down into my eyes, and I don't want to make it too tight to leave a mark. Actually I found these "ear bags" that's mentioned in another thread at REI, might try those. Obviously on the really cold days, I use my neck gaiter as a balaclava but on some of the late fall/winter days, just keeping the ears warm is enough...

JayDon't know about them but I have a pair of Ear Bags (http://www.widgets.ws/prod/Magellans-Travel-Supplies/Ear-Bags.html) that a friend gave me. I would think that those should work about the same.
For me the Ear Bags work well for the days when it's warm enough that I do not need to cover my neck and head with a balaclava, but want to protect my ears from the wind. They work well for that and they don't block the sound. They stay on surprisingly well.
