Sounds like a Darwin award candidate to me.

Driving, talking on cell phone, no seatbelt.... obviously had no common sense, so it's just as well she's removed herself from the gene pool :)

How sad that someone's daughter is lost forever. :(

Uh, oh...somebody's been using the Alanis Morisette dictionary to define irony.

Let's say the the women had been on the phone with her doctor, who just told her that her tests came back negative, and by golly, she was going to live, and then let's say that in her excitement from hearing such great news about her new lease on life, she caused an auto accident and died...that, my friend, would be irony.

Let the irony vs. coincidence debate begin... ;)

Yep, it's sad that someone's daughter, friend, lover is dead, but it was by her own hand, a result of her own decisions.

At least she did not take anyone with her.

Yup, that would be ironic regarding her death. However, her death is not what I find ironic. I find the irony in the fact that she crashed into a cell phone business while on her cell phone.

Ironic ... I really do think! ;)

Good call, Schiek, and welcome to the Language Nazi Club. It's not ironic at all. It's an apt coincidence.

2 ironies as I see them (or coincedences aw heck Irony is much easier to spell :) ) Talking on a cell phone, then slams into a cell phone store, and she was studing to be an EMT to boot.

My prayers do go out to her family maybe now ther will be more support to ban those things while driving.

A woman, on her cell phone, crashes into a cell phone store. She dies later at the hospital.

This is not coincidence. This is a terrible tragedy that occurred out of the natural course of probability.

The next tragedy will be that this inevitability will be repeated.

I noticed that one of those stray utility poles jumped out in front of her first before she ran into the cell phone building. They ought to expand the hunting season on those things so they wouldn't cause so many accidents.
Seriously, just how many lives must be lost due to another driver distraction?

Chalk up another life lost due to our addiction to motor vehicles. The particular circumstances may have been ironic, but in the bigger picture, this is just a sad, sad shame.

I thought "irony" was that part of process on the right side of the place where I get my shirts cleaned and pressed. It's no coincidence that they are co-located. Ah, well, live and learn.

In a word, I'd describe the story as poetic.

Why? It doesn't rhyme. :D

No no no. It's how you describe food that's high in iron. "Hey, that spinach is real irony."

this old chestnut. in the uk everyone's walking round telling everyone else that they don't know what irony is. it really pisses me off as everyone knows that irony is 10000 spoons when all you need is a knife.

"She was studying to be an EMT at Massasoit Community College. "

And a fine one she no doubt would have been.

RichC (sarcasm, not irony)
