Lately the road bikes have been parked, and mountain biking has my full attention. The car free experience and beautiful vista provide a more entertaining work out then pavement droning. Seems like I can get a more effective work out, in about 1/2 the time or distance, and it's 2x the fun, especialy down hill. Even going slow it's a challenge, picking lines through rocky sections or motoring over the roots and loose stuff. Guess I haven't been off-road for many years, and not sure why I waited so long.
I've been getting a loop in around China Camp Tuesday, and Thursday evenings, and either weekend day, and am surprised how quickly some of my basic fitness and handling skills have returned. Are there and BF'ers that mtb after work in Marin, and what regular loops do you do that are good for 1-2hrs? Is night riding techincally legal or not?
It's been awhile since I've ridden Mt. Tam, Phoenix Lake, Tamarancho, or San Jerinamo, but I'd love to meet up with some moderate paced riders to get back out there again.
