Foo - My little lady kitty enjoys playing fetch

My wife had a cat that would play fetch. Sadly, the cat thought it could pick the play times. It would bring a ball of paper to our bedroom at 3 AM and start yelling at her to play fetch. That is when the cat would get taken to the laundry room or garage until a decent hour.

Yeah, in hindsight it was funny. In fact, it was pretty funny to turn the lights on at 3 AM and see this big ol cat,(Tigger was big boned) sitting at the foot of the bed with a wadded up piece of paper, just looking at you with big ol cat eyes, saying "Play with me".

I typically wake up to my other cat shortly before my alarm is to go off (Pavlov...?) sitting on my chest saying "feed me". Typically i act as if i'm getting up, he runs to the food bowls, i continue to sleep for 5 mins and he returns. It's a great backup alarm clock.

The cats knew better than to sit on me, but they would get right up in Martha's face to wake her up if they felt they needed attention during the human's sleeping hours.

This is "Splatter" cat and she too is a Fetchy kitty. She especially favors these little sponge rubber balls - and for some strange reason - she likes to soak them in her water dish --- oh what a yummy feeling when she jumps on the bed, gives you a headbutt and drops a cold wet mushy ball on your chest. Blech! She has no stopping point and will bring the ball back to you all night.

My little Scootsie I had always would entice me with the 'fetch' game. I too thought this unusual for a cat but have heard many times of this.

Better than a cat that we had when growing up, it would wake you by biting your nose. I finally caught it in the act once - such a look of pure panic! :rolleyes:

Our son left his cat with us for a while. It loved toilet paper - I am convinced it felt toilet paper was to be destroyed - you would come into the bathroom and either the toilet paper could not be found, or the toilet paper was confetti. :eek:

We've had a few who would do it. They lose interest when they get older-- they'd rather sleep. One of them would even jump up and catch things in the air when you threw them for fetch.

My parents' cats like to play with those milk lid rings, but they don't play fetch. Just swat at it and chase it across the floor.

It's true. At night he tries to lay between us. He doesn't really like to share.

hehe, lately I've got the "IT" room, the happening room - they have their own bowl of (high end) food, water, entertainment (one fishy left - but up high and out of reach) and moi - who pays attention to them.

'cept now their kinda kicking me out of my own bed - with my big guy as the major instigator ...

My cats both play fetch. Actually it's more a matter of having trained the humans to throw on cue, but it's cute nonetheless. And one of them has started playing catch - he wants you to throw the ball toward him, then he jumps up and bats it back to you.

I have a sixth month old male kitten and couple of months ago I thought it was funny when I'd throw something and he would bring it back to me. Now he likes to play fetch at least once or twice a day. I had never sen a cat do that before. I enjoy playing fetch with him, too!

oh, i guess this is common. i thought our cat Darwin was strange fetching stuff and bringing it back. our other one (they are brother and sister) never understood the "bring it back" part. she just chases and returns empty handed.

Our little long haired grey Katya kitty likes to play fetch with the little plastic ring thingies. She likes it if you throw it into the kitchen so she can slide on the floor. Ivan the gigantic Maine Coon cat considers fetch a spectator sport.

If Katya had thumbs she would be into the tools and have all the bikes taken apart.
