And if you remember where you were, tell us. It might be regional, eh? :p
1987, senior year of high school. Senior trip to Paris with friends. Got off the train and was starving. Saw a place that said "American Style Pizza." We ordered it without even looking at the toppings. They brought it out and it had two raw eggs on it. I don't know what part of America they got that recipe. We still ate it.

^^^ And then they laughed at you I'm sure.
In Sorrento Italy my little brother ordered a seafood pizza and it came with clams...in the shell.
In London I was served cheese pizza with corn and peas on it.

In Nurnberg, across from the old stadium they had a pizza stand with a California Pizza. It was covered in hot chilis. Very..hot..chilis.
I don't get the corn hating. What's wrong with corn on pizza? I guess I used to think it odd, but now I honestly can't remember why.
I can deal with most things on pizza, but have come across seafood pizzas with tuna and thousand island dressing that were a bit weird (Korean pizza place in China).

ham, pineapple, canned corn, bbq chicken... pretty much anything anyone outside of italy and the greater new haven region put on what you refer to as pizza.

I had a "southwestern" pizza once that had black beans and salsa on it. It was pretty good, actually. I used to love broccoli on pizza too...

that's not pizza, that's an open burritto, or a quesadilla at best.
Worst I've seen was peanut butter... urk.
I'll happily take Conan's pizza any day after run-ins with the "gourmet" shops.

pasta.
A blue & gold macaw. Of course the landing was a little messy, and she really shouldn't have the cheese.
I like tuna and hot chillies on mine. Can't stand large capsicum (red, yellow, green peppers) though.
I had a fruit pizza once - it was more like a fruit tart with cheesy pastry than a pizza with fruit and cheese.

Paella has a pretty wide open definition. Pizza - not so much.
The pizza I enjoyed the least was a Chicago style deep dish I was served a Pizzeria Due (around the corner from the original Pizzeria Uno. It was like eating tomato stew. Yuck!

No, it's americanized pizza.
The only requirement for pizza is dough.

I couldn't even tell you what was on the "pizza" I ordered at Cafe Gratitude, a raw restaurant in Berkeley, CA. Please, don't even look it up, this place is so hippie, I can't even tell you how annoying the menu is, or the waitresses. That being said, the "pizza" didn't taste half bad, it just wasn't a pizza. And I'm never going back!

How about the tandoori chicken and fixin's at California Pizza Kitchen (http://www.cpk.com/menu/pizzas.aspx)? Lots of unusual toppings there but it's all so yummy. http://boards.buffalobills.com/images/smilies/drool8.gif

All I can say is, you did better than I did :p .
The clotted cream almost did me in. Just thinking about it has made me gain a few pounds...I miss that stuff (and it's just as well :o ).
You must have been eating the whelks and eels--narsty stuff, that.

nope. i lived in scotland. when eating out meant blood pudding, haggis, or overpriced mediocre what nots, i generally opted for good ol' home cookin'.
btw - having been in various cities south of the border, i'll freely admit that the scottish kitchen trumps english kitchen. every day of the week.

Say no more. I understand fully. I attempted to eat some of that one day, and could not even get it past my lips--the smell alone was ghastly.

That's just because you have never had real brick oven pizza with fresh Mozzarella. The tomatoes must be fresh in order to get the best sauce. Real garlic, oregano, and freshly ground parmesan cheese are also requisite. ;):D
dear god, a clotted cream pizza. just the thought makes me ill

No. My cousin owns a chain of pizza parlors and in emergencies, made me deliver for him. My pay was pizza.

I worked my way through college working in a pizza restaurant. I've put just about everything on a pizza. Avocados, bacon, eggplant, peanut butter, even entire salads. It's all good.

No, I've had bad pizza. The crust looked/tasted like play doh. The sauce was all ew and the cheese was plasticky.
incorrect.

There isn't anything to be correct about.
Pizza is something italian. For it to be changed in anyway is an interpretation of the real thing. If you want to pick that apart and call it pizza or not, that's up to you.
Me? I had pinneapple, salami, and canadian bacon dough for dinner. It also had red marina sauce on it. Weird.
