Forum Suggestions & User Assistance - Points

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Whats the deal with infraction points?
how many can you accumulate before you get banned and how many do you receive for different infractions?

3 points = 7 day ban. Most infractions are 1 point each, although really extreme ones could get up to 2. They expire in 60-180 days depending on the infraction.

Are we talking about the same state? No offence intended. In California some points can last for years. I got a friendly warning letter from the State once when I got to 3 points. At that time 7 points cost you your liceinse for a year.
I think the OP is talking about infraction points that can be handed out by mods or admins here at BF for violating the community guidelines, etc.

Yeah, to be clear, I was talking about Bikeforums infractions, and the related punishment.
I am not sure why I would be asking about motor vehicle infractions at bikeforums.

so... are these points or infractions posted? Is the offender warned?

The only people that can see them is the person that receives them, and the staff. The poster, when he gets infraction points, also recieves a PM, detailing the violation and other pertinent information. We start with unofficial warnings first, escalate to recorded, and then to points. Points are the last resort since they build toward a short term or eventual permanent ban.
