I recently bought a bike at a LBS and they mounted an onguard ulock on it for me. Unfortunately, the plastic piece that holds in it in place broke so, it just wobbles around when I ride. I am not the most mechanically savvy guy and cannot figure out how to get the mounted part off. There is a hex bolt that tightens a cloth strip, but it has groves along the outside that only allow it to tighten one way. I tried twisting the other way and it seems like I will just strip the bolt out before it gives.

Thanks for any help and please forgive my ignorance :o
worse comes to worse i'll just take my entire bike when I return the ulock

From taking a quick look at mine and recalling how I put it on, I think you press the thin silver button that's about a cm long and it should release no problem.

What did you figure out?

For my part, I noticed that just exerting pressure using the hex key, away from the ratcheting, allowed me to remove the mounting without stripping anything.
