no mods for me lately because I'm going to buy a Kona Coiler and a Specialized P.2 in a couple of weeks... wouldn't want to waste money on my current lightweight XC bike when the frame will only end up failing me on the trails in Washington.

you are buying both?...

BTW good choice on either...nice bikes

No mods for me either...got a new bike and no money left for extras.

Well, just recently, as you might have read here in another thread, I upgraded my fork and my wheels.

Actually didn't really upgrade, more of sidegraded. Switched my fork from a Psylo SL to Zoke Z1. And swapped my wheels from Profile Racing hubs laced to D321 rims to Marz front/XT rear and Rhino Lites. So, actually downgraded my hubs.

Besides that, I finally took off my big ring and swapped it for a bash ring.

I did however, just buy a new HID light for my night rides!

Sounds like an interesting switcheroo A2 any reason on the wheels?

a2psyklnut

Lighter weight.

My D321's were killing me on some of the longer rides I'd been doing. Plus, they were on SALE! I like sales! :)

I found the Z1's on closeout and couldn't pass them up, and then I saw the deal on the wheels. So, I spent WAY more than I should've!

BTW, you coming to the Fat Tire Festival next weekend?

[QUOTE=Raiyn][color=blue]This was decent topic in the SS/Fixie forum I thought we should give it a go.

Raiyn,

My son has the same bike as you (without the big league mods you have made). How do you like your new fork, the original is a real pile of crap IMHO. I am not into giving him a mound of change to upgrade his bike, but the fork has to go. Would you get the same fork now?

BTW just because the Lightning are winning a few games doesn't mean diddly!

BTW just because the Lightning are winning a few games doesn't mean diddly! The bike was good to begin with so your son should have no trouble without the "big league" mods. I really like my Duke XC U-turn It's plush with out being a marshmallow and I actually use the U-turn function. would I get it again? Emphatically yes. In fact the bike never left the shop with the Axel on it. The Axel was such a POS. It flexed like a limp noodle in the PARKING LOT.

Let's see now we've played 3 games fewer than the Panthers yet have 6 more points and 3 more wins. At least you're not a Caps fan. :D You stinkin' Panthers can smile about something other than having a clean litter box for now.

No recent upgrades here....however my rockhopper is far from stock now...
Z1 dropoff 2003 eta (euro model)
Time Z control FR pedals
XT mechs
XT discs
Raceface Deus stem
Goodridge hydro lines.
Selle Italia Flite TransAlp (1993model).

My next upgrade is going to be an Enduro SX frame, a pair of either Raceface Atlas Xtype cranks or Middleburn RS7 ISIS and an FSA Pig DH-Pro headset, and XM321 rims with hope or middleburn hubs. By the way the middleburn hubs have 40 engagement points!!!!!!!!

Oh man did you take the bait on this one (make hook out of finger and put in mouth)! No doubt the Panthers are sucking eggs and the Lightning have it going on this year. I was sure you would respond if I even mentioned hockey. :D You will get your chance to gloat on Tuesday night.

Who's got some modifications even in the planning stage?

Who's got some modifications even in the planning stage?
Well, when I get my P.2 I'm planning on also getting a Surly 1x1 fork that I can swap onto it for trials practice. When I purchase my Kona Coiler I'm going to see how much extra it would cost to get a Fox Vanilla RL for the rear shock instead of just the Vanilla R and I'm going to have them put platforms on it instead of clipless. I would also like to have the Hayes Hydraulic brakes swapped out for Hayes Mechanicals so they would match my P.2 and I would be able to swap parts if something breaks. I'll have to see though if that will cost too much more.... I should also be putting my '03 Stumpjumper FSR frame up for sale, not that it's a modification, but I just thought I should mention it.

I rode a Coiler the other day, and all I can say is I love Pro Pedal! I'm not sure you'd need a lockout on the Coiler, unless you plan on doing road miles or racing. So much less bob than my Dawg, with more travel (but also more weight).

So as far as future upgrades for my Dawg, a Fox Float RL with Pro Pedal, a Fox Talas R to replace my (scratched stanchion) Bomber MXCs, and maybe a new wheelset.

The only reason I want the lockout is that it can get a bit difficult riding my bike to the trails closeby if I don't lock out my rear shock. The hills are killers... Maybe though I'll try out the regular Fox Vanilla R to see how well that pro-pedal stuff works first... Thanks for the info.!

woohoo, I crashed the other day, and broke the bike more than myself. A friend is letting me buy his Jr. T from him for 4 bills, having a new wheelset built, Shimano XT onto Alex Supra Sigma rims, 14g spokes, Avid ultimate brake levers( what can I say I like the CNC'd look) and possibly a new crankset looking at the raceface BB crankset combo they have on pricepoint.
