The frame on my 2003 Marin HWY 1 has developed a crack on the chain stay near the bottom bracket after only 400miles (4 months)of road only use!!!!!
Has anybody else had/know of similar problems with Marin ALP frames and also how should I attack Marin on this one -Is it realistic to expect that I could get them to replace the bike with a new model which i notice has a carbon seat stay instead of the aluminium stay that my model has. I assume that the carbon stay would absorb much of the shock that the aluminium frame would otherwise taken
cheers

I'd assume it is under warrenty. Take it to the dealer (with your receipt) and let them handle things w/ Marin. If they deem it a warrenty item they will give you a comparable frame. It may be the same one they have since it's pretty new and they are sure to have some lying around. If not, they will probably give you the current year. If you want the new model and they have the 2003 available they may require a small upcharge to give you the 2004.
