What does it cost you to enter a race? My club has 10 mnt bike races a season. Full membership is $100 CAN and this also includes entry to 4 downhill races, fun events, free food and beverages, lots of draw prizes, insurance, timed results and probably more that I can't remember now.
And yet there's complaints from racers who want to pay-as-you-go and others who only want to enter 1, 2 or 3 races and who feel this makes the price too high.

I know some of you have no racing where you live and have to travel to races: what is your cost per race? Any other thoughts on fees, club membership or race entry?
Thanks.

The local race series here, runs every Wed, April 2-early June, and is $25 first race, $10 every race after.

We have a $10 tabulation fee if you want to race in the series and have your points count. Out of the 7 or 8 races, the 5 best are counted toward your points, with one race a marathon worth double points for every rider you finish in front of (points for placing are the same). Our fees depend on the promoter and are usually 20-25 dollars a race. This is no food, just timing and the location (some are chapter benefits or for the specific trail). The team I race with brings food and stuff but the fees do not go to this, just our fund raiser in the beginning of the year.

Speaking of which, anyone near Livonia want to bowl all night for $25, including shoes? There'll be drink specials, and I believe a band and DJ. PM me if you want details.

ps, $10 a race with food is a heck of a deal! Of course, that's provided you do all the races. Still, if you race 1/2 of them, it's still a good deal.

We have 12 races in the WORS series in Wisconsin. You can do an all-in-one payment for all 12 races and save a few bucks, otherwise it's $29 per race for elites, $27 for comp, sport and citizen and $17 for Citizen Youth and "First-timers" (they do half the distance of citizen (beginner)). This is a cross country series. I think it's a great deal because there's usually freebies like meals, socks, etc.

$25 - $35 each race depending on the promotor.

People will always complain. For $100, that sounds like a pretty good deal.

WVMBA races range between $20 and $30 for WVMBA members - add $5 for non-members, plus non-members have to rent a race number for $5.... but racers usually get a T-shirt and ALWAYS get a post race meal included in thier race fee. Sometimes pizza, sometimes pasta, sometimes a full bore barbeque... but it alleviates the "need to feed" from the race day budget for the racer! WVMBA membership is only $25, anyway - 16 xc point series races, 8 Ultra Series races (with VA), and 9 other events/fun rides.

Nothing. Try finding some grassroots racing. (http://rockyroad5050.wordpress.com/) We race for free and even have sponsors like Stan's, Hammer Gel, etc.

I've paid as little as $20 for an XC race and as much as $80 for an endurance race.
