Fifty Plus (50+) - New bike - and I'm worried

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I've loved my new road bike - and I've loved getting fitter and faster on it
And since I was 16, I've had motor assisted bicycles - Lambrettas, Triumphs, Kawasakis, Yamahas, and a couple of Ducatis
A pal here is leaving, and I've bought his vtwin Honda "Africa Twin" - sturdy two wheeled equivalent of a landrover
Weekends are short. Bicycle and motorbike are both demanding of the same limited leisure time.
Hmm. Love 'em both. Just have to ration my time.
I've already started obtaining visas and transit permits to ride back to uk this June to do the planned Brittany cycling tour in July.
Life is good - too many toys oughtn't be a problem, eh?

Too many toys . . . Never a problem . . . Not enough time to enjoy them . . . Too frequently a problem . . . Just make more time.

Once the roads are clear enough, I commute by motorcycle. About 180 - 200 commuting days per year. Hardly ever ride my street bike (I also roadrace) on the weekend, never feel the need to after riding 250+ miles during the week.

I know where you're coming from. A few times I have come close to getting a motorcycle. I rode them for several years, on and offroad. But one of the main reasons I have not done it is I could see myself spending more and more time on the motorcycle and less on the bicycles. I don't want to start gaining weight and losing fitness. But I sure do miss riding motorcycles. :(
I rode motorcycles for many years and gave them up when the kids started coming. Now with them about grown I have been thinking about it. I have ridden my middle sons motorcycle to work a few times and it is fun. I could see me with another one in a couple of years, but I don't think it would get into my bicycle time, just enjoy it coming and going to work. Have fun on both of them.

Too many toys? I'll bet that's a common malady in this forum. My sig line is only the tip of the iceberg.
I got my motorcycle road racing license when I was 48. I thought I'd be the only one in the course with grey hair. Turned out I was in good company with about 4 or 5 others in my own age group among the other 15 twenty somethings.
