Does anyone know if the roads through the park (the climby ones) are open to bikes? I was hoping to ride out there this weekend, but would love to be able to climb a little.

I haven't been there recently, but I've not heard of any closings. :)

They're all open to peds and cyclists, including closed maintenance roads. The locked maintenance road gate at the top near the tunnel even has a newly posted sign stating road closed but open to pedestrians and bicyclists.

So is mt hollywood road open that goes through the park back to burbank. I want to go from the observatory straight through the park but back to burbank w/o hitting barnham or cuhenga pass is this possible and is mt hollywood the best road to take?

Yes...there is a gate..so no cars....cyclist and hikers only...
at the bottom gate..you can go left - down trash truck hill to end up by travel town and forest lawn dr
or right and come down by the golf course....
you can get out by Zoo drive and Riverside...from either way....
BTW as you cross the bridge the LA river Bike path is on your right just the other side of the freeway....

I basically go from riverside to victory around GP up to the observatory which would be the best way to get back to burbank without hitting heavy traffic, i don't mind hills.

I would go from the observatory to Mt hollywood then down...then out the park the same way you came in....only other alternatives are busier streets...ie: Forest Lawn to Barham
Or down Ferndell to Loz Feliz then Franklin to Beachwood, and over to Lake Hollywood then Barham...but thats way more traffic...

Be cautious going down Mt. Hollywood Drive toward Burbank. Some major potholes so you need to take it slowly.

Here's my preferred route from Fern Dell to Barham, avoiding big streets. There are a couple of gasser hills but they're not too long.

The road that starts at the top of Commonwealth and runs high above the east side of the park (through the burn area) is definitely closed. There were some big mudslides up there during the rains a couple of months ago and it's still blocked off.
